Blair Moody Lake

June 14, 1932 ~ July 2, 2014 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Blair Moody Lake, R.N., MSN, dedicated and compassionate oncology nurse, devoted and loyal Army daughter and wife, and beloved Marine Corps mother and grandmother, departed this earthly life to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 2, 2014.

A lifelong Episcopalian, Blair served on the Altar Guild and as a lector, participated in Cursillo and the Education for Ministry program.  Blair attended the Sorbonne, was a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee and later was valedictorian of her nursing class while raising three children.  She earned her Master’s degree in Nursing from The Catholic University of America.  She helped many people in her nursing career at a variety of hospitals including Arlington Hospital and Fairfax Hospital and served as the Radiation Oncology Department nurse at Georgetown University Hospital.  She later taught nursing at the college level in Florida.

Survivors include beloved children and grandchildren: Major General Richard M. Lake and wife Patricia; Colonel William M. Lake and wife Gayle; daughter Sara Blair Lake, Esq., and grandchildren Captain Richard Lake and wife Stephanie; First Lt. Matthew Lake; and Nicholas and Allison as well as her beloved and devoted priests, convent, many dear friends including Esther, Ruth, Sister Christina, John and Connie and companions Sushi and Chloe. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Col. Marlin and Mrs. Sara Moody, her husband Lt. Colonel Richard Harrington Lake and her infant daughter, Mary Anne Lake. The funeral mass will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 201 East Frederick Dr., Sterling, VA 20164 on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10 AM. Burial to be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery. Donations may be made in Blair's memory to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Sterling, Virginia or to All Saints Convent, 1501 Hilton Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. May she rest eternally with God, Jesus Christ and all the saints and may light perpetual shine upon her.
