James William Danaher

On Sunday, December 3rd, James W. Danaher passed away in his Alexandria, VA home. He was the loving husband of Ellen for 45 years, father of Patrick and Kathryn, and grandfather of Wyatt. Born in St. Mary's, Ohio, Jim went on to earn degrees at Villanova and Ohio State. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot, earning the rank of Captain, and was an avid runner and marathoner. Jim worked for many years at the National Transportation Safety Board as the Head of Human Factors in aviation accident investigation. He was an active, devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered as a eucharistic minister. He will be lovingly remembered for his warm, positive manner; kindness to all; support for friends and family; engaging storytelling; and devout faith. A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1427 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302, on Tuesday, December 12th at 11:00am, and will be followed by light refreshments.
