I was a crewmember aboard the USS Bryce Canyon AD-36 at Pearl Harbor under Captain Ward's command in the early '70s. He was well liked and highly respected. It is not surprising to me that Capt. Ward lived a long and very productive life. “Fair winds and following seas.”

On behalf of Erskine Academy, I give Captain Ward's family sincere condolences and every good wish. It was my pleasure and a privilege to host Raymond on an impromptu tour of Erskine in 2011 when he happened by. I was interested and impressed by Raymond's institutional memory, wisdom, and love for the school. His visit followed with the contributions of artifacts to the Barry Thomas '61 Archives, about which we are most grateful. He was a wonderful visitor to and proud alumnus of Erskine Academy. We hope the family will count us among the friends who offer respects and comfort at this time.

Thank you so much for your kind words. He loved Erskine Academy and spoke happily of his visit with you. We even found him an Erskine Academy t-shirt that we wore to the gym at Goodwin House.

I would like to express my condolences to the family. I have not seen Mr. Ward since I was a child and I was with my Dad, Carl Brown. They reminisced about the good old days and made me laugh. So sorry for the families loss.
