William ( Bill ) Henry Malloy, Jr., 89, of Alexandria, VA passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 peacefully at home with his devoted wife and family. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to William Henry Malloy and Emma Malloy and was raised in Jamaica Plain, Mass. At the age of 17, he left high school early to join the United States Marine Corps and served our country during World War II. Returning from the war, he enrolled at Boston College but was called back to the Marines to serve our country again during the Korean War. Upon Bill's return, he graduated from Boston College and then earned his law degree at American University. Bill married Helen Ann Largey in 1952 and they settled in Alexandria, Virginia where they raised their four sons within the Blessed Sacrament and Saint Anthony communities. Bill served as an attorney in the Division of Corporate Finance with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission from 1960 to 1985. Following his retirement from the SEC, Bill continued to practice securities law and served as chairman on several arbitration panels to resolve securities disputes. A dedicated Roman Catholic, he and his wife were firm believers in Jesuit education and sent their four sons to Gonzaga College High School to help build their sons into " Men for Others ". Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen; and their four sons, William III, Mark ( Suzanne ), Courtney, and Geoffrey ( Tricia ); seven grandchildren; sisters, Carol Stefano and Jacqueline Cohan; brother-in-law, Joseph Stefano; and sisters-in-law, Catherine Penning and Joyce Largey; and his loving nieces, nephews and many close friends. Bill will be remembered for his loving devotion to his wife and family, honorable service to our country in the military and government, pride in being a Marine, love for Boston, integrity, kindness, humor, and his commitment to his Catholic faith and Christ. Bill fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Visitation will be held Friday, August 11th at 9:00am at Everly - Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA with a funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1427 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA to follow at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Gonzaga College High School, 19 Eye Street, NW Washington, DC 20001.
