Andrew Hayes Feehan Benson

On Monday, February 1, 2021 Andrew H. F. Benson of Alexandria, Virginia passed away suddenly at the age of 18 years old. He is survived by his parents, Mr. Nels Randolph Benson, Mrs. Ellen Feehan Benson, his sister Charlotte Marie Custis Benson, his maternal grandmother Mrs. Suzanne Murphy Feehan of Washington, DC (originally from Lewiston, Maine), his paternal grandparents Mr. William L. Benson, Jr. and Mrs. Katherine H. Benson of Rome, Georgia, and Mr. Nikita I. Soukhanov and Mrs. Anne Hayes Soukhanov of Bedford, Virginia.  Further, Andrew is survived by nine aunts, eight uncles and 19 cousins with whom he was very close. Andrew was a senior at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia and was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a talented soccer player, a three-year varsity letterman and a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend. Andrew’s academic achievements merited his acceptance to several world class universities beginning in the Fall of 2021. Andrew was an overall outstanding athlete which included baseball, track and field, skiing, and basketball in addition to soccer. Andrew was known for his easy nature, his care for others, and a smile that could light up a room.  He spent his summers in Kennebunkport, Maine with his extended family and will be missed terribly. A funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament will take place on Wednesday, February 10th at 10:30 am. Due to COVID restrictions and attendance limitations in the church, unless directly invited by the family, those who wish to participate are encouraged to watch the live stream of the funeral Mass on Bishop Ireton's Facebook page (https://m.facebook.com/bishopiretonhs/). Following the mass, Andrew will be laid to rest at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, Va.
