Betty M. Townsend

  Betty M. Townsend, 92, Alexandria, VA. formerly of Brunswick, OH., passed away Wednesday, July 28, at her residence. Born in Huntingdon, PA. on May 4th, 1929, she was the only daughter of Lynn and Anna Blett McKee and was the widow of the late Francis B. Townsend, Jr. Betty and Buzz, as he was known, were married for almost 60 years!

  Betty was a 1947 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School as well as a graduate of the class of 1951 at Juniata College. She went on to teach secondary education and eventually ended her working career as an organization administrator.

  She was most proud of having compiled an extensive, multiple volume genealogy of both sides of her family tree dating back many, many generations. Betty also had amazing knitting skills! From the tiniest baby clothes to intricate sweaters and warm and comfy blankets, she could do it all! Her favorite leisure activities included watching the Cleveland Browns and especially Penn State football.

  Betty is survived by her three sons, Stephen, Michael, and Christopher, two grandsons, Michael, and Patrick, as well as many other friends and family. Betty will be missed by all who knew her! Memorial services will be held at a future date to be determined by the family.
