Charles L. Sims, Sr., age 88, passed away at his home in Alexandria, Virginia on April 25, 2022. Charles was born on January 12, 1934 in Harlan, KY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force stationed at the Pentagon, where he met the love of his life and devoted wife of 66 years, Mary Louise Cittadino Sims. Following his career in the Air Force, he resided in Arlington, VA and Alexandria, VA and went on to become an entrepreneur participating in several business and real estate ventures until his retirement. Although he loved living in Virginia, he was always a true Kentucky gentleman at heart. His biggest and most rewarding accomplishment was being a devoted husband to Mary and a loving father to his children, Charles L. Sims Jr. (Connie) and Kathleen Sims Robinson and precious grandfather to his four grandchildren, Charles L. Sims III, Kara C. (Sims) Clark (Christopher), Joseph Connor Sims and Jessica Leigh Robinson, all who affectionately called him “Charlsie” and later “Charles”. He is survived by many beloved family members, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ellen and Nick Linsalata and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife and two dear sisters, Eula Jones and Betty Simms of Harlan, KY. Visitation will take place at the Everly Wheatley Funeral Home at 1500 W.
