Dolores "Terri" Morrison

February 11, 1931 ~ October 30, 2021 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Tribute

Dolores Morrison, known to friends and family as Terri, died peacefully in her home on October 30 at the age of 90. Born in New York, Terri took great pride in her Irish ancestry and fondly recalled childhood visits with her Gaelic-speaking immigrant grandmother. After moving to Virginia as a teenager, Terri attended the former George Washington High School in Alexandria. She soon met and married her high school sweetheart, John Morrison, and they started a family.

Terri’s home and family were her world. She doted on her children, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as the years went by, proudly taking part in every school event and milestone in their lives. She loved spending holidays with her family, sharing music, good food and laughs at her home and theirs in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Florida.

An avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast and collector, Terri enjoyed searching flea markets and yard sales for books, toys and treasures to decorate the cherished home bought for her by her husband not long before he died. Watching birds in her yard in the company of her caring aides from Senior Helpers of Fairfax became a favorite activity in recent years. She was also a loyal fan of the Washington Capitals hockey team and looked forward to tuning in to cheer on her Caps every time they played.

The ultimate Golden Girls fan, Terri enjoyed watching and rewatching every episode while snacking on Little Debbie dessert cakes along with plenty of maraschino cherries!

Terri Morrison was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, John Morrison, mother Elaine, brother Barry and sister-in-law Joyce. She is survived by her four children:  daughter Christine (Robert); son Gary; son Michael (Teresita); and daughter Patricia (John); nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

We hope you will take a moment to share a memory of Terri on her tribute wall. As the Golden Girls would say, “Thank you for being a friend.”
