Edward F. "Easy Ed" BonGiovanni

Edward F. (Easy Ed) BonGiovanni passed away on July 27th, 2022 of terminal mantle cell lymphoma.

He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Marie, an estranged daughter, Desiree, a bevy of cousins and in-laws, and an incredible number of friends.

Frank and Mary’s kid was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 21st, 1947 and enjoyed a decent, if somewhat odd lifetime. Having lost both parents by the time he was 19, he lived with his cousin Rob and Rob’s then wife until he completed college.

Marriages to Caroljean and Linda ended in divorce.

In 2005, he met the love of his life, Colleen, and they were married on June 2, 2006.

An ardent, if not great golfer, he played as much as he could, and even fulfilled a ‘bucket list’ wish to work as a starter at area golf courses after ‘formal’ retirement.

One of his proudest accomplishments was to have conceived [with friends Bill Rhatican and Julie Wright] and run a golf tournament for 11 years – The Great Start Open- every New Year’s morning. Not only was golf celebrated but being alive and sober on Jan. 1st was important to all the players and spectators who showed up faithfully each year.

He played music professionally from his teens until 1985 when his drinking forced him out of the ‘alcohol’ closet and into the welcoming fellowship of A.A. in which he spent over thirty-five sober years. In addition to music, he worked for over thirty years in the corporate travel milieu, using his knowledge and connections to travel the world over many times. Of all the places Ed was fortunate enough to visit, although he loves Italy, particularly Sicily, his grandparents’ homeland, Hawaii remains his favorite.

[If he had his way, he’d be lolling on Kaanapali Beach in Maui right now.]

Ed says “Thank you, everyone who made my life so rich and full. I may wish that I was still there with you, but, I’m pleased that, if I can’t be, I got to know and love you, one and all. God Bless.”
