Elizabeth Hurley Patrician

December 10, 1927 ~ May 31, 2020 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Elizabeth Hurley Patrician, “Betty”

Born December 10, 1927 in Malden, MA to Charles Hurley and Edith Croshaw Hurley, with an older brother, Charles.  Betty graduated from Malden High School in 1945, and soon thereafter, met a friend of Charlie’s, Leo Patrician, of Boston.

Betty and Leo married on November 26, 1946. They lived in several Boston suburbs before settling in Lexington in 1958.  They had a son Robert and a daughter Kathleen.

Betty and Leo remained loving partners for 46 years.  She always remembered a trip to Hawaii in 1991 as the vacation of their lifetimes.  They were active square dancers, with many friends that lasted for years after they had stopped dancing.  Tragically, Leo died in 1992, not long after he had retired.

Betty continued to work at Instrumentation Laboratories in Lexington until she retired.  With nearly 40 years in Lexington, Betty had many friends with whom she socialized, played cards and travelled.

She moved to Mashpee on Cape Cod in 2003.  There she blossomed with the Mashpee Singers, entertaining at hospitals and nursing homes and travelled with the Capers along with new friends from her neighborhood and Christ the King Catholic Church.  She enjoyed many visits from family and friends from her days in Lexington.

In 2016, Betty moved to Northern Virginia to be closer to her family.  She lived at Greenspring Village in Springfield, VA , meeting new people and developing new friendships.

Betty leaves her son Bob and his wife, Melinda; and grandchildren, Joseph Leo Patrician and Molly Patrician Haines, and her husband Bradley Haines, all of Arlington, VA; and her daughter, Kathleen and her husband, Michael Akrep of Massachusetts.  Betty was predeceased by her brother Charles Hurley and his wife, Doris and also leaves her niece Karen Thibeault, her husband Ed and their daughters Erin and Lauren of Franklin, MA; and nephew Paul Hurley and his daughters Olivia and Caroline,  of Hopedale, MA.

In recent years, Betty enjoyed holiday trips and celebrations with her family .  Her great-grandson, Cooper, was born in February.  Though 2020’s pandemic prevented Betty from ever meeting Cooper, in person, she loved the many photos and videos the family shared with her.

Donations in Betty’s name may be made to the Food Pantry at Christ the King Catholic Church, PO Box 1800, Mashpee, MA 02649.  A service and burial in Lexington will take place at a future time.
