Eloise Peyton Adams

Born on June 24, 1926, Eloise Peyton Adams of Springfield, Virginia died on January 12, 2023.  Mrs. Adams, a native of Georgia, graduated from Cornelia High School in Cornelia, GA in 1943.  In 1944 she came to Washington, D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation where she worked as a typist, proofreader, and secretary for over 10 years.  She attended Strayer College of Accounting and Law in Washington, D.C.  Mrs. Adams worked as a real estate agent for more than twenty years, retiring in 1995 from Century 21, Old Town Associates, Alexandria, VA.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va.  Mrs. Adams wrote four books of poetry and over 100 greeting card verses. She also belonged to a DC-area Writer’s Club.

Eloise was married to Melrose Buster Adams for 70 years prior to his passing in 2020. The Adams’ lived in Alexandria and Falls Church, VA before moving into independent living at the Greenspring Senior Living Community. Mrs. Adams moved to the Aarondale Assisted Living Community in 2020 and was a resident in the Inspiritas unit there at the time of her death.

Eloise Adams was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is survived by a son, Bruce Adams and his wife Sandy of Springfield, VA and a daughter Lynn A. Rourke and her husband, Edward J. Rourke, Jr. of The Woodlands, TX.  She is survived by a grandson, Colin G. Adams and his wife Michelle, and by three granddaughters:  Erin O’Connell and her husband Ryan, Kristin Rourke and her wife Rachel Rotondi, and Kara Rourke.  She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, with a fifth on the way:  Jacob and Claire Adams and Abby, Mila, and TBD O’Connell.
