Frank A. Abbate

Frank A. Abbate, a longtime resident of Arlington, VA, passed away on August 21, 2023, after a short but fierce battle with lung cancer.  Frank was born on October 19,1948 in Queens, New York. He married Merill Goldklang in 1977 and the newlyweds moved to Northern Virginia, where Frank began his career with the Federal Government.  

Frank is survived by Merill Abbate, his loving wife of 45 years, his children Carolyn (Drew Hopwood) and Daniel (Anusorn Khamthong), his three beloved grandchildren, Walter and Stanley Hopwood, and Adrianna Abbate.

Frank was an unforgettable personality; making a lasting impact on all who knew him.  

The family will be receiving friends at the Everly Wheatley Funeral Home,1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA, 22302 on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 10 AM to 11:30AM, with a memorial service to begin at 11:30AM.  Burial to immediately follow at Oakwood Cemetery, 401 N. Roosevelt St, Falls Church, VA 22044.
