Jacqueline Gaucher Goettlich

May 4, 1936 – February 1, 2024

Jacqueline Gaucher Goettlich, 87, of Alexandria, VA, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024 at Greenspring Village in Springfield, VA.

Jaci was born in Windham, CT to the late Mae Cheney Gaucher and Harry S. Gaucher, Sr., Esq. She attended boarding school in Canada and high school at the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Laurelton Hall in Milford, CT. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Home Economics. She married Robert B. Goettlich and moved to Alexandria, VA in the early 1960’s where she lived until 2004.  She started her career as a teacher, but became a stay-at-home mother while her children were small.  Later she went on to become both a travel agent as well as an overnight au pair for families with twins and triplets.  In 2004 she moved to Naples, FL. to get out of the cold, but returned to VA in 2015 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Jaci enjoyed traveling and went on some wonderful adventures.  She loved spending time in the sun with her grandchildren, swimming or relaxing at the beach reading a book. As the matriarch of the family, she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her five children, Robert (Glen) Goettlich of Winchester, VA, Loren (Goettlich) Yates of Fairfax Station, VA, Bonni (Goettlich) Ramsdell of N. Ft. Meyers, FL, Lesli (Goettlich) Murden Harbaugh of Gaithersburg, MD and Greg Goettlich of Charles Town, WV.  She also leaves five loving Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren who she adored. Grandchildren Brianne Goettlich of Alexandria, VA, Cameron Goettlich of Alexandria, VA, Amber Goettlich of Ashville, NC, Jason Yates, Jr of Clarendon, VA, Ricky Harbaugh of Gaithersburg, MD and Great Grandchildren, Makenzi Stringfellow, of Madison, VA and Cameron Goettlich, Jr. of Arlington, VA.  She is predeceased by her 5 brothers: Harry, Phillippe, Thomas, Robert and Jo Paul as well as her beloved granddaughter, Melissa Murden. 

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 12:00 PM, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mt. Vernon Highway, Alexandria, VA.  Interment will follow at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 2823 King Street, Alexandria, VA.  A reception will be held at The Loft at Lena’s Havana 151, 401 E Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA immediately following the interment.
