Jama’l Jovohn Rapp passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at the age of 27. Jama’l was born on January 27, 1993 in Detroit, Mich. He was a loving son and protective brother to his siblings. He loved his family dearly, often showing affection through his playfulness.
Jama’l is a 2011 graduate of T.C. Williams High School. He was employed by Marshalls. He was a gifted artist and skillful skateboarder. He took a lot of pride in his gifts and spent a massive amount of time honing both crafts.
Jama’l will be missed by many but especially his mother, Cynthia Rapp Hurley; his father, David Hurley; sisters, Janesha Hurley, Jasmyn Hurley of Rockville, MD, Ardeitra Mayhall of Memphis, TN; brother, Jacarah Rapp; maternal grandfather, George Rapp of Cleveland, MS; Granny, Elizabeth Rapp and Papa, Alvin Rapp, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Glenn & Carrie Harris, Sr. of Greenville, MS; Aunts, Tonia Rapp Julien (Kevin) of Avondale, LA, Chanda Rapp Burton (Jerry) of Cleveland, MS, Tondra Hurley Cahill (John) of Lake Frederick, VA; Uncles, Samuel Rapp of Laplace, LA and Larry Hurley of California; cousin/ fi rst best friend, Kiarra “KiKi” Fortney of Huntsville, TX; special aunts, Debbie Rapp, Donna Rapp Williams, Calavestia Rapp, and Myrza Rapp, all of Detroit, MI; Special Uncle, Alvin Rapp, Sr. and lots and lots of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Jama’l was preceeded in death by his maternal grandmother, Velma Jean King; paternal grandfather, Charles Washington and Uncle Carnell Hurley, Sr.
