James E. Morgan, “Jim”

Passed away on December 12, 2020 at the age of 93.  He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on July 17, 1927.  Jim graduated from Hanover Township High School in 1945.  In 1950, Jim was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War.  After being discharged from the Army, Jim worked as a shoe salesman for Shoetown Footwear where he retired.  In February 1982, Jim married his wife, “Dottie”, and was a devoted husband and caregiver for her until her passing in December 2002.  Jim was an avid sports fan supporting all of the local Washington DC professional teams with a special love for the Washington Nationals.  He was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of the choir for many years.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. Morgan; Brothers David C. Morgan Jr and Harry J. Morgan; Sisters Betty E. Foy, Virginia C. Morgan, and Jane Morgan.  He is survived by his sister, Mary M. Welker, and brother, Donald F. Morgan, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5121 Woodland Way, Annandale, VA.  Interment will immediately follow Mass at the National Memorial Cemetery, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in his memory.
