James Thomas Kroll

March 3, 1958 ~ July 21, 2020 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Tribute

James (Jim) Thomas Kroll, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2020. He was a beloved father, and well-loved friend to many. He is survived by his wife Kristie, and his two children Michael and Melissa.

Jim was a graduate of Rutgers’ Cook College and earned his PhD from North Carolina State University. He served for 20 years in the Air Force and then worked for an additional 19 years at the National Science Foundation. Jim was also deeply involved in the community, serving on the HOA of his condominium and working as an umpire in the Northern Virginia Softball Umpires Association. He frequented local swing dance groups and events, worked occasionally at Glen Echo Park and never considered it an inconvenience to help others with their problems or projects.

His visitation on Friday, August 7th is open to all who knew him and loved him. There is no means of fully honoring his legacy and life-long hard work, but to those who wish to honor him, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Air Force Aid Society.

Jim’s children request that those who knew him well post stories or memories on the tribute wall of this page. They are collecting these stories to hold onto them for their own grieving, but also to retell them and keep his memory alive.
