Jeannine Juliette Mustone (née Robineau), of Alexandria, Virginia, died on March 17, 2023 at the age of 98. She was born in Nouméa, Nouvelle‑Calédonie to Gaston Robineau (a career French naval officer) and Eugénie Augias on June 10, 1924. She attended school in Nouvelle‑Calédonie and France. During the Second World War, she met Albert (Musty) Mustone, a U.S. Army officer, in Nouméa and they later married in Boston, Massachusetts on February 17, 1946.
Ardently French her entire life, Jeannine cherished French culture and language. She often returned to France and Nouvelle-Calédonie to visit family and enjoy French life. One of her great joys was entertaining family and friends with a traditional French flare.
Jeannine is survived by her brother Michel Robineau of Nouméa, Nouvelle‑Calédonie; her son David Mustone of Burke, Virginia; grandchildren Haley Mustone of Alexandria, Virginia, and Daniel Mustone of Centreville, Virginia; and great-grandson Reilly Mustone‑O’Neill. She was preceded in death by her late husband Albert, to whom she was married for 33 years, and son Jean-Paul Mustone, who died at the age of 41.
Funeral services will be held at later date at Arlington National Cemetery where she will be buried with her late husband Albert.
