It is with great sadness that the family of John Patrick Philibin III announces his passing after a brief illness, on Monday, November 12, 2018, at the age of 53 years.
A native Johnstown, PA., John served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force before spending 15 years as a Diplomatic Security Specialist with the federal government visiting, 118 countries in his career.
John was a man of many talents and interests. He was a coach for Team In Training raising thousands of dollars for cancer research. He also loved music and was an active member of his church choir and recently resumed his playing of the cello. John had al ife long passion for cooking.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 12 years, Laurel and his son, Thomas (Suzanne Thibeault) . John will also be fondly remembered by his mother Jo Ann; by his siblings, Jeff (Jerene), Kris (Joel) Weaver, Kati (Brian) Streletz and Mike (Christie); and by his nieces and nephews, Daniel, Stephen, Morgan and Makena Philibin, Peyton Ashline, Aileen, Tabitha and Rachel Weaver, Riley, Sydney and Cassie Snyder and Rebecca and Justin Streletz. John was predeceased by his father John "Jake" Philibin II. John will be especially missed by his loving and faithful dog, Zara.
A gathering will be held from 6-8pm, Friday at Everly-Wheatly Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA. A memorial service will be held at 3:30pm Saturday, at Fairlington United Methodist Church, 3900 King St, Alexandria, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
