Joyce Ann (Conkin) Zanone

Joyce Conkin Zanone, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on June 25, 2019. She was born in the Beech Creek community of Rogersville, Tennesee on October 9, 1939 and after graduating from high school was recruited by the U.S. Navy to come to Washington, D.C. to work as a secretary. Joyce met the love of her life, John Zanone, and they were married in 1960. Joyce worked at the City of Alexandria Department of Recreation and was involved in many volunteer causes. She will be mourned by her husband John, her children Priscilla Goodwin (Michael), Jay Zanone (Jen), and Dante Zanone (Becky). Another daughter, Mary Vargas, preceded her in death. She is also survived by a loving sister, Janice Cobb, and ten grandchildren. Services will be held in Alexandria at a future date, arrangements will be made by Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home.
