American Veteran 04

Louis H. Jordan, Jr.

March 26, 1958 ~ September 14, 2022 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Tribute

It is with deep and unfathomable grief, that we, the family of COL. Louis H Jordan Jr. USA (ret), share the news of his untimely death on September 14, 2022. Lou, after struggling with many health challenges due to his 100% service-connected disabilities, succumbed to his illnesses at 64. Lou was blessed to have his last wishes followed; to die peacefully in his sleep at home with the sunrise over the Catalinas.

Lou was born to Carolyn Jordan, neé Carter, his father, Prof. Louis H Jordan Sr., PhD, on March 26th, 1958, growing up in Bronxville, NY. He is also preceded in death by his brother, The Honorable Mark Jordan of New York. Lou is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle Jordan, his accomplished son Kristopher Jordan, and his two daughters; Alexis Groessl and Andrea Courtney with husband Joseph, who he could not have loved more dearly if they were flesh-and-blood. His sister-in-law, Jeanette Jordan with nieces, Alexandra and Christine with grand-niece Poppy were also sources of great joy for him.

Lou’s love of Country and dedication to the Service of our Nation, was evidenced by 32 years of active duty in The United States Army. He served in Afghanistan from 2009-10 as the Senior Military Advisor to the Ministry of the Interior for Counter-Narcotics, and as Deputy Director of The Strategic Studies Institute at the US Army War College, but his true passion was in his capacity as an Army Aviator. During retirement, his love of flight took to the winds of the seas by way of “Grand Finale,” his sailboat. Lou was respected and loved by many, evidenced by the out-pouring of condolences and shared memories of those he had the privilege of mentoring and serving with.

Lou was an avid learner, fascinated by world history and culture, and was a wonderful storyteller. Lou easily related to others and his charm drew in friends on a global scale. His quick wit and laugh were contagious and will be sorely missed. His life was full of adventure and curiosity.
