Madeline Boyd Ferrara

September 19, 1923 ~ December 31, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Loving mother and housewife, married 61 years to husband John Ciro Ferrara (who passed December 2008), and survived by son John Michael, died December 31st 2017 of cancer after a short illness. Madeline was born and raised by mother Marie and father Ernest Boyd in Amherst County, Virginia in a family that included three sisters and three brothers. She later moved to Hampton Roads, Virginia where she met her future husband John who was in the US Army Air Force. John and Madeline settled in Alexandria, and she supported her husband when he and a family member started a landscaping business. She worked for many years as a volunteer at Alexandria and Mt. Vernon Hospital.  Madeline is also survived by nephew Jim Campbell and niece Bonnie Scanlin, plus additional nieces and nephews and their offspring. A visitation for family and friends is planned for Friday, January 12th , 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at Everly-Wheatly Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, placed next to her husband in the Columbarium, in a ceremony to be scheduled early summer 2018, date to be announced.
