Marilyn Jeanette Shoaff, age 93, died on Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Winston-Salem, NC after a short illness. Marilyn lived in Alexandria, VA for 64 years before moving to stay with her daughter Sallie in Winston-Salem in late 2021. She was born on January 22, 1929 to Gordon and Helen Wadsworth in Painesville, OH and attended the Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, OH. She was proud to work as a court reporter until she married the love of her life, Clark Stuart Shoaff, on August 19, 1950. She continued to work as a legal secretary after they were married until she became a mother, which was her greatest desire. Marilyn was an avid book reader and as a quilter, was a founding member of Nelly’s Needlers of Woodlawn Plantation. She was also a longtime member of the Stratford Women’s Club. She loved to garden, a passion she learned from her beloved grandfather. She loved her house on Little Hunting Creek. She was also a devoted Washington Nationals fan and said she was glad she lived long enough to see them win the World Series. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark, and her sister, JoAnn Granger. She is survived by her three children: William (Julie), Pamela (Robin) and Sallie. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: JC (Anna), Clark (Elisha), Brooke (Tobi), Caroline, and Patrick (Rainy) and by her great granddaughter Anna -Claire, with whom she was thrilled to share a birthday. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church located at 1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, VA 22308 followed by a reception at the church. Burial will be on Wednesday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery at 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to any of the following organizations:
