On July 30, 2017. Melvin "Mel" Lee Goss is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dixie Carver Goss; brothers Larry (Rena) of Hudson, OH, and Don of Ft. Wayne, IN; and nephew Phillip and niece Sarah Norman. He was born in Ft. Wayne, IN, the son of the late Wesley and Lois Goss. Mel received a BS from Purdue University, Masters of Engineering from George Washington University, and Masters of Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
He retired US Army Reserve LTC. Employed 42 years as a civilian electrical engineer with the US Army R&D Labs at Ft. Belvoir. Life-long member of Cameron United Methodist Church, serving in many positions, including Sunday school teacher and superintendent, MYF counselor, chairman worship committee, lay leader, and men's club. Active with Math Counts. Served on Board of Directors for Belvoir Federal Credit Union. Volunteer computer instructor for Jewish Council on the Aging. Member of Professional Society of Engineers. Mel enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
