Paul A. Jones

Paul Augustus Jones – beloved father of four, fiance’, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend – suddenly passed away while at home on August 3rd, 2021. He’d just turned 41 on July 24th. Paul, the son of Paul W. Jones and the late Sheilah M. Jones, was born and raised in Washington, DC. He lost his mother at the tender age of 9 as she lost her battle with breast cancer, leaving him and his two sisters in the care of their maternal grandparents – the late James “Rock” and Ollie Vinson. Paul matriculated through DC public schools and graduated from Phelps Vocational High School. Affectionately called Pablo or PJ, Paul was the only grandson and it was no secret that he was the apple of his grandfather’s eye. Very rarely were they apart. As a baby, you could always find Paul in someone’s arms or on their lap. This was especially true with his cousin Dee-Dee who often proclaimed that Paul was HER baby! Suffice to say Paul was spoiled – he was very well loved.

Paul loved working with his hands and favored tasks that were mechanical or electrical. As a young boy, that love often led to his shenanigans, such as rewiring the telephone jacks and removing the back of the television to access the people he believed were inside. Paul was full of mischief and jokes. He knew his way around the kitchen too. Paul was a very good cook who took pride in getting every seasoning just right. He was also a self-titled “Grill Master”. Paul was a car and motorcycle enthusiast. His grandfather purchased him his first motorbike at age 11, years before he was even old enough to drive. In later years, Paul was affectionately known as “Dooba” in his circle of close friends. Standing 6ft tall with an unbothered facial expression and gaze, Paul was extremely caring and gentle. He loved listening to good music, enjoying a good meal, and reminiscing and laughing about his children and family. Paul and his fiancé Jamie were to be married in February of 2022.

Left to cherish his memory are his father Paul W. Jones; three daughters - Porsche Jones (14), Jazzlyn Jones (9), and Kamia Jones (5); one son Kymbrell Jones (10); two sisters - Chrystal Jones and Deanna Mingo; one brother-in-law Shadwick (Deanna); one niece Devan Ogburn; one aunt Barbara Jones; one uncle Ian S. Jones; and his beloved fiancé Jamie Walker. Paul is also survived by a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

A private service will be held on August 18th, 2021.
