We said goodbye to Peggy Axthelm on April 24th, 2020. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church community since 1968. Sadly, Peggy succumbed to COVID-19, one month shy of her 91st birthday.
Peggy was born in Cambridge, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University where she met her beloved husband, Ed Axthelm, on a blind date. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Peggy and Ed raised four children: Karl, Alan, Kathy and Toby (deceased).
Peggy was easy-going, quick with her wit, and always happy to share a smile. She was an avid traveler; her journeys included Australia, New Zealand, and much of Europe. She also enjoyed crosswords, crafting, reading, and listening to music. She loved spending time with her family, especially at Thanksgiving when everyone could be together in Alexandria. Peggy is survived by her husband, three children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
It is impossible to capture the life and spirit of such a woman in so few words. Peggy was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Please check back as more details are available.
