Plato Cacheris embodied all that is good and noble about the practice of law. He was thoughtful, smart, thorough, well-prepared and articulate. He was also kind, generous, easy-going, debonair and suave. As an attorney, and a human being, he served as an ideal to those in this sometimes maligned profession. When I was a young novice SAUSA at  the bottom of the totem pole in the Eastern District, he was already famous. He came to the office (above Pier One) to talk about a case, treating me with far more respect than I deserved. I was completely charmed and remained so, admiring him from a distance throughout his distinguished career, proud to have known him and wanting always to emulate him. My sincere condolences to his family.  You have been blessed with a wonderful partner, brother, father and role model who touched more lives than you may know.

It was such a honor to work with Plato for so many years.  Such a gentleman and a great honor to his family and the bar.

Sorry to hear the news about Plato, we followed him throughout his career. He was a good, all around man.
We knew him long ago when we went to Western High School together.

Apart from being a brilliant lawyer, Plato was one of the most compassionate people we dealt with during a very difficult time.  When a close friend was arrested, the family contacted several attorneys who refused to represent her.  Plato agreed to, acting pro bono.  When he had to tell us that she was guilty, I burst into tears and he joined me, holding my hand and telling me he would do his best for her.  Which he did.  Almost twenty years have gone by and I called him about a matter involving her.  As weak as he was, he took the time to give me sage advice on how to handle the situation.  He is in heaven, no doubt, because of all the kindness he showed to so many people.
