May 26, 2018, Robert Krauss passed peacefully after a hard fought battle with cancer. He leaves behind the love of his life of over 59 years his wife Cassandra.
Bob was born on the south side of Pittsburgh, PA. He was always very proud of his home town, and was always happy to find another Pittsburgher to share a story. Bob was a very hard worker and a man of many talents. He worked at the J&L Steel Mill in the 50's and 60's. He could see the writing on the wall of the steel industry in Pittsburgh. In a drastic change, on a dare he went to beauty school, and with his young family moved to Alexandria, Virginia. That unlikely career change led him to the Salon at Saks Fifth Avenue in Chevy Chase, MD. where he styled the hair of celebrities, local news anchors and the like. Bob was part of the team that styled Lynda Johnson Robb's hair for her wedding. He was quite a presence at 6 Ft. 4 and was known professionally as "Mr. Robert of Saks".
Always looking or a new challenge, and was not afraid of change he left Saks to become an auto mechanic at the Fairlington Sunoco. This gave him an opportunity to get dirty, put his mechanical talents, love of cars and gift of gab to good use. He retired in 2007.
Bob, along with Cassandra, was the foundation of a strong Krauss family. He taught the importance of putting family first to his children and grandchildren. He had a unique sense of humor with a larger than life personality. We are grateful for the years spent together, lessons learned and the memories shared. His most proud accomplishment was his long marriage, and the family that he and Cassandra created, Raschael (Gerry), Bob (Laura), Rich (Laura), his eight grandchildren, Gerard (Ashley), Caroline (Shane), Brendan, Kandi, Anna Marie, Bobby, Amanda, Richard, five great grandchildren, Madeline, Riley, Emi, Johnny and Jacklyn. He also leaves behind his brother George (Sally), nephew Justin (Valentina) in-laws, Beverly Meyer and Mary, Regis, Stephanie, and Albert Capozzoli in addition to many nieces and nephews. Robert was proceeded in death by his father George, Mother Anna Marie and sister Carol Ann.
