Sally R. Moore, age 95, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on November 12, 2019. Sally is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Linda C. Moore, five grandchildren – Valerie A. Crawford, Kristen Moore, Michael Moore, Kevin Moore and Erin Moore – and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur B. and Margaret G. Martin, brothers, John and Arthur, sisters, Eleanor, Katherine, Anne, Mary and Donna, her husband of 63 years, Norman R. Moore, and adored sons, Richard W. and Dennis B. Moore.
Born in Ellwood City, PA but calling Alexandria, VA her home for over 70 years, Sally was retired from the Alexandria City Public School System. A devout Catholic who never missed attending mass, she also enjoyed cooking, crafts, playing cards, and always had a knack for solving the toughest of crossword puzzles. Sally was a life-long Washington Redskins fan and loved traveling with her husband, once he retired from the Alexandria Fire Department, especially to Chincoteague and summer weekend trips to Colonial Beach, VA.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Highway, Alexandria, VA 22306. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
