Samuel Carlos Gardner
Sam Gardner died October 4, 2017 in Falls Church, Virginia. He was 20 years old. He is survived by his mother, Sally Bolger Gardner; his father, Gary Gardner; his sister, Clara Gardner, his grandmother, Lee Bolger; uncles David Bolger, Daniel Bolger, Jeff Gardner, and Clarence Gardner, aunts Nancy King, Beth Westrate, and Catherine Bolger; cousins Sky King, Katie King, Jack Bolger, Kristin Bolger, Lauren Bolger, Eve Bolger, and Jane Bolger; and a host of homies too numerous to list here.
Sam was born in El Alto, Bolivia and was adopted by the Gardner family at the age of 5. He spent three years in Arlington, VA before moving with his family to Grass Valley, California. He was a funny, warm-hearted young man who enjoyed music, movies, and spending time with friends. He was skilled at caring for animals and for the elderly. He had a special place in his heart for his sister, Clara.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Sam on Wednesday, October 11 at 5 pm at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2700 South 19th Street Arlington, Virginia 22204.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to two organizations that were “there for Sam” just as he was for others: Salvation Army https://give.salvationarmyusa.org and Goodwill Industries International http://www.goodwill.org/give.
