Samuel Brown Morris

Samuel Brown Morris departed this world on Monday June 19, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Mildred, wonderful father of Andrew Dawson Morris, of Alexandria, VA., Anita-Marie Morris and husband Haskel Henderson of Gloucester Point, VA. and Edward Francis and wife Phyllis (Beatle) Morris of Fairfax, VA; loving grandfather of Samuel William Morris of Newport News, VA. and Joshua Edward Morris of Honolulu, HI. The devoted uncle of many dear nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, he is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law.


Sam was born in Alexandria Virginia on August 8, 1924 the son of Anna Shifflett and Randolph Dawson Morris. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred, his parents, sister Helen and brothers Lew, Bill, Jim and Gus.

Following a long career with the Department of the Army, Sam retired and went to work with his brother Jim as an accountant. They worked together for many years before he retired fully. He loved spending time with his grandsons. He was an avid sports enthusiast having served as President of the Alexandria Sportsman Club and was a member of the Arlington-Fairfax Lodge 2188 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him
