Tribute

Sharon Marie Bender, 57, passed away on Saturday, January 23rd surrounded by her family.  Sharon was born in Alexandria, but was a resident of Fairfax county for most of her life. She graduated from Groveton High School and worked as a patent researcher and specialist in patent law. Sharon was also a member of the Pentagon Chapter of D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution).

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Forrest William Perry, Jr., she is survived by her husband  Albert Frederick 'Rick' Bender, III, her mother Mollie Batchelor Perry, daughter Stephanie Honaker, her sons Joshua Aaron (Shannon),  Brandon William (Susan Fuentes), Matthew Brady and his partner Rachel O'Quinn. Grandchildren Haley Marie and Aaron Wyatt, sisters Barbara Ann (Warren Lawrence), Deborah Lee Perry and Nancy J. Perry ( Mike Shifflett).  Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew. Sharon also leaves behind her two aunts Nancy Hughes and Helen Perry Myers, sister-in-laws Cheryl and Sheila Bender, Mike and Debbie Ouchi, and father in law Retired Naval Captain Albert F. Bender, Jr.

A visitation will be held at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd. Alexandria on Thursday, February 4th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. All attendees are required to wear face covering/mask at all times.

Funeral Service and Interment will be private, due to covid 19 restrictions. The Funeral Service at the Everly Wheatley Chapel will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person.

Sharon's  family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors that took care of her while she was at Mt. Vernon Hospital. Special thanks to Sharon's nieces Samantha & Megan Perry Shifflett who spent most of their time at the hospital checking on their Aunt Sharon and reporting back to the family on how she was feeling that day. Special thanks also to her Niece Elyse Lawrence who gave us medical advice and explained the medical terms  and always kept us updated on Sharon's condition.
