Shirley Pine Kitzmiller

Shirley Pine Kitzmiller, beloved mother, passed away November 1, 2023 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s.

Shirley was born January 24, 1932 in Altoona, PA.  She was a graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College where she met her husband.  On April 4, 1953, she married Howard Lawrence Kitzmiller in Altoona, PA.

Shirley was a resident of Alexandria, VA for over 65 years until her death.  She was an elementary school teacher in the Alexandria City Public Schools.  She left teaching to raise a family and became a full-time homemaker.

Shirley was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, having served as a Sunday School teacher and participating in the Women’s Circle ministry.

Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband of 63 years, Howard Kitzmiller.  She is survived by her son, David Kitzmiller, and his wife, Sharon, of Greensboro, NC, and daughter, Diane Kitzmiller, of Centreville, VA.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 17th at 1:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2701 Cameron Mills Road, Alexandria, VA 22302.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westminster.
