"The Greatest Generation"
Technical Sergeant Charles G. Ruble, U.S. Army Air Forces, age 20, gave his life while serving our country in World War II. He was Killed In Action on September 17, 1944 near Groesbeek, Netherlands. He served with the 99th Troop Carrier Squadron, 441st Troop Carrier Group of the United States Army in the fight to liberate Europe from Nazi tyranny.
A native of Selma, Indiana, Charlie was the son of Ruth E. Ruble and Glenn Ruble. He was a 1942 graduate of Selma High School and served as class president and valedictorian. His family included his older sister, Mary Jeanne Ruble Goins and his younger brother, Robert G. Ruble. First cousins inclue Jan Goins Carusiello, James Goins, Sherry Ruble Butler, Debbie Ruble Janeway, Brent Ruble, Chris Ruble, Craig Ruble and Bryce Ruble.
A Graveside Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at Arlington National Cemetery. A family gathering will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2020 at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22302.
