Thomas Winter Olds, 50, died February 3, 2020 after a long struggle with depression. Tom was a beloved little brother, caring uncle, honest friend, and a skilled classical guitarist.
Tom was born January 21, 1970 in Alexandria, VA. He graduated from West Potomac High School in 1988. He went on to graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in classical guitar. He lived in Richmond, VA before heading to Los Angeles to work on a startup company with friends. He returned to Old Town, Alexandria and began working for the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, where he worked for the past 20 years. In recent years, Tom rediscovered his natural photographic ability to share beautiful and insightful photos with friends and family. He was especially inspired by a recent trip to Curacao, capturing glorious images and poetic musings in some of his final work.
Tom was preceded in death by his loving parents, Beverly Smith Olds & Hugh Wilson Olds, Jr. of Alexandria, VA. He is survived by his sisters, Alice Beiro of Alexandria, VA, Carolyn Elliott (Rod) of Lewes, DE, and Amy Olds of Cornwall, England; his nieces Jacqueline Beiro, Julia Beiro, Clara Elliott, Sylvie Elliott, Alodie Elliott and his nephews Christoper Beiro (Natalie), Nate Elliott and his great-nephew, Braden Beiro.
We invite family and friends to join us in gathering in Tom’s memory on February 22, 2020 from 3-6 pm at Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub, 713 King Street, Alexandria, VA.
