Virginia Jones Hanbury

On Aug. 11, 2018, Virginia passed away peacefully. Born Feb. 5, 1927 in Edenton, GA, Virginia met her husband on a blind date set up by her best friend.  Their romance lasted almost 50 years and she has gone to be with her “sweet Bill” again. Virginia was a teacher and graduate of the University of Georgia. Her passion was her involvement and membership in the First Baptist Church of Alexandria. She is survived by her sons William L. Hanbury and David C. Hanbury (Pam), daughter Elizabeth A. Weedon (Bruce), grandchildren Glenn, Kyle, Jennifer (Sam), Jessica, Brandon, Ava (Bobby), Brian (Brittany), Mark and Daniel. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018 at 11am at the First Baptist Church of Alexandria in the Family Activity Center, Entrance 4.   Private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., http://www.act.alz.org
