Zander Parham Wilke

Zander P. Wilke, 91,

of Springfield, Va., passed away on May 9, 2018.  Zander is survived by his wife of 67 years Nancy Jane Wilke, son Tom Wilke, granddaughters Mary (Nate) and Caroline, and one great-granddaughter Paige, and his brother Marvin Wilke (Lois) of Middletown, Md. He was preceded in death by his brother Rudolph Wilke. Zander was a graduate of GW High School.

Zander was born on Sept. 3, 1926 in Birmingham, Al. He was a WWII Veteran in the Pacific followed by Admiral Byrd’s expedition to Antarctica.  Zander worked for VEPCO for several years before returning to the Navy to serve in the Korean Conflict. Zander later joined Alexandria Dairy/Shenandoah Pride for 23 years before retiring in the Fairfax County Public Schools working in Plant Operations. Zander was a member of Westminster Presbyterian and served in the Church for over 60 years.

Visitation to be held at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home from 2-4pm, Sunday, May 13. Services to be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 12pm Monday, May 14 with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2701 Cameron Mills Rd. Alexandria, VA, 22302.
