Conrad Patrick Lee (1949-2017)
On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Conrad P. Lee passed away peacefully at his home in Washington. Born in Louisiana on August 13, 1949 to Conrad Dale Lee and Evelyn Strouth, he was an alumnus of St. Joseph Seminary College. He trained as a pastry chef in the kitchens of the historic New Orleans French Quarter. He brought his talents to Washington in the early 1980’s where he worked for the American Medical Association as an event manager. His family and friends enjoyed the gifts of his hospitality and outstanding culinary skills, his wonderful sense of humor and joie de vivre. He was active in the community of The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle serving as a lector, flower arranger, and supporter and advocate of the cathedral’s musical programs. In 1988, he was invested into the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in recognition of his contributions to the medical, social and humanitarian missions of the organization. He was a devoted gardener, and loyal caregiver of his longtime companion and beloved Tibetan Spaniel, Doodie.
He will be remembered for his intelligence and his generosity by his survivors: a sister, Susan Lee Dawson (Robert), his brother, Stephen James Lee (Georgette); his nieces Amy J. Dawson (Frank) and Evelyn Lee, his nephew Stephen Paul Dawson (Jaime), his Godson, Christian Gero, and five grandnieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., April 1st at The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C. Memorial contributions can be made to Villa de los Ninos Las Hermanas de Maria, Carretera Federal No. 35, Acatlan de Juarez, 45700 Guadalajara, Jal., Mexico (a school Conrad helped establish), or to SXM Paws, (sxmpaws.org) a volunteer rescue organization for homeless, abandoned and abused cats and dogs.
