Mr Joshua S. Kirk

Major Joshua Kirk, U.S. Marine Corps, was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Judith (née Morog) and Huey Kirk, and was raised in Lorain, Ohio.  He is a 1996 graduate of Clearview High School where he was valedictorian.  In 2000, Josh graduated from Ashland University summa cum laude.  Following college, Josh attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August 2000.  After he graduated from the University Of Virginia School Of Law in 2003, Josh worked as an associate for Jones Day in Cleveland, Ohio until he attended The Basic School for the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia in 2004.

Josh began his military legal career as a prosecutor and civil law officer at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.  From 2006-2007, Josh deployed with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the deputy staff judge advocate.  Josh served as the senior defense counsel, the legal assistance officer-in-charge, and the chief prosecutor at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.  Most recently, Josh served as a prosecutor at the Office of Military Commissions in Washington, DC.  

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Lieutenant Commander Erin Quay, JAG Corps, U.S. Navy, his son Aedan, his parents, and his sister, Lisa.
