Welcome to the memorial page for

Deborah Naylor

October 16, 1957 ~ October 14, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Debbie Naylor spent her entire professional career at Georgetown University, where she was known for her problem-solving ability and sharp computer skills, and was known everywhere for her kindness and generosity.

Deborah Lee Naylor was born on October 16, 1957 in Stanford, KY.  She was the second of three children born to Marylee Bullock and Ben T. Naylor Jr.  Debbie spent her childhood in Smithfield, Virginia and Charlottesville, Virginia, She began her college studies at Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Georgetown University.

Debbie began her career in the Registrar’s Office at Georgetown University where her talents were quickly recognized by the University Registrar, John Q. Pierce.  She worked hard, spending many nights and weekends at the job.  She was responsible for the creation, programming and production of accurate schedules, invoices, transcripts, and reports for all students on Georgetown’s main campus, and also served as an advisor to other Georgetown campuses. After several years, Debbie moved to University Information Services to work with the team responsible for installing a new system for undergraduate admissions. From there, she became the Associate Registrar at Georgetown Law Center, responsible for the administration of student records.  Debbie soon became known for her kindness and generosity to colleagues and to students. In 2014, she received the Carol Quindlen O’Neil Award, an award given annually for excellence, compassion, respect for others and long term dedication to Georgetown Law.

In her private life, Debbie was a good friend to many, many people young and old, but her very dearest friend was her beloved mother.  Debbie and Marylee were so much alike, from the way they looked, to the way they talked, to the things they liked, and their wonderful sense of humor.  Even throughout Debbie’s illness, there was lots of laughter as Marylee lovingly cared for her.

Left to mourn Debbie are her mother, Marylee Bullock, her loving brothers, Daniel (Shirley) of Dillwyn, VA, and Derrick Naylor, (Cheryl) of Lexington KY, devoted aunt, Sue Woodall, of Stanford, KY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.  She is predeceased by her father, Ben T. Naylor Jr., of Jackson TN, and grandparents, Hobert and Cynthia Long, of Stanford, KY and Ben and Gertrude Naylor of Lancaster, KY.
