Katherine Burt McKitterick Anderson, for many years a mathematics teacher at National Cathedral School, died June 17 at her home in Alexandria. The cause was emphysema. She was 89 years old.
Born in Hinsdale, Illinois, she graduated from Swarthmore College in 1949 and came to Washington to work briefly for the Navy as a cryptographer. She married Nathaniel McKitterick, a magazine correspondent, and went to London with him for several years. She began teaching on her return to Alexandria. Mr. McKitterick died in 1990.
She is survived by her second husband, John W. Anderson, and two children, Molly McKitterick of Washington and John B. McKitterick of Columbia, Md.,as well as three grandchildren.
Her family and friends remember her as a wonderful cook, a fan of chamber music, and a devoted gardener at her weekend cottage in Woodville, Va.
