What a great photo! (And thanks to the family for the wonderful photo cards we got at the funeral.) It will be so super weird not to see Jim in his usual seat for our coffee hour group. When I was in RCIA, he was one of 2 people I felt comfortable asking "stupid" questions, like when, not knowing the different spelling, wrote him "Jim, are there missiles in the back of the church?" He wrote back, "I hope not, missals are..." and he told me where. We had his coffee hr group's 80th birthday party at my house, he will be really really missed, but being a "glass is half full" person, I so enjoyed seeing Ellen again, and meeting Kathryn and Patrick, whom Jim always talked about, so we felt we knew them too, even though I'd never met them. We'll think of Jim often, he'll live on in the memories of everyone whose lives he touched and made better.

Hey Jim and family,
Great story about your Dad bringing you to your first MLB game when you were a kid in Ohio. You have a lot of great stories...you had a great life. Glad our coffee group had you as a member. We miss you already. See ya in the big ballpark in the sky.
Thanks for being our friend...Jeanne / Tim

Condolences to Jim’s family for the loss of a husband, father, and grandfather. Jim’s easygoing ways and ready smile were a welcome sight during my tenure at the NTSB, where I considered Jim to be not just a colleague, but a mentor and friend as well.

As my supervisor at NTSB, Jim was not only a colleague, but a valued mentor and caring friend. Over the years I learned much from his considerable intellect, knowledge, and eloquence, and will miss his cheerful personality, sense of humor, and friendship. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and many friends.

I actually was looking for another person who passed away that crossed into my life. Jim was a dental patient in our office of Sanford Brotman, DDS. He was always so pleasant and very polite in every way. I was very fond of him. Sheila B. Sheats, RDH

Jim was truly one of the gentlemen of the Safty Board. Always a kind word with a no bs attitude.
